Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Nyesom Wike, on Tuesday assured residents of Bwari Area Council that the ongoing Bwari–Kubwa road project would be completed before the end of the year.

Wike gave the assurance during a thank-you visit to Bwari on March 3, 2026, where he expressed appreciation to residents for their support during the Area Council elections and pledged sustained development under the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

“The road we are doing from Bwari to Kubwa, we will finish it. This year, we will finish it,” the minister declared to cheers from the crowd.

He said the visit was part of efforts to appreciate the people for keeping faith with the Renewed Hope Agenda and supporting candidates aligned with the President.

“When we appointed this day to come to Bwari, it was because the time has come for politicians to keep their promises. Under the government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, we will give Bwari the necessary support,” Wike said.

The minister recalled a town hall meeting held earlier with traditional rulers, youth and women leaders, noting that the FCT Administration had fulfilled key demands raised by residents.

“This is the first time in the history of this country that a government came to ask the people, ‘What do you want?’ You spoke with one voice, and we promised to provide them. Have we not done so?” he asked.

Wike stressed that governance is built on mutual commitment between leaders and the electorate.

“If you do for me, if you vote for me, if you love me and push me, I will push you. Agreement is simple you do your part, I do my part. That means we have fulfilled the agreement,” he said.

He also urged residents to be vigilant in future political decisions, insisting that only leaders who understand the needs of the people should represent them.

“We will not send people who do not understand you, who do not know where you live. We will send people who understand the people of Bwari,” he stated.

Commending the Chairman-elect of Bwari Area Council, Joshua Ishaku, Wike described him as a young and capable leader the FCT Administration would work closely with.

“Because we have a very good and young chairman, we are going to work with him. I want somebody who understands me, and I will understand him. Joshua is that person,” he said.

Earlier, Ishaku, in his vote of thanks, described Wike as a humble leader whose developmental strides in Abuja were visible and impactful.

He assured the minister of Bwari’s continued support, pledging that the council would remain steadfast in backing the administration’s programmes and policies.

The event drew traditional rulers, women groups, youth leaders and party supporters, who turned out in large numbers despite the heat to receive the minister and his entourage.
