The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike has flagged off an additional road project set to be inaugurated by 2026, marking President Bola Tinubu’s third anniversary in office.
Speaking at the flag-off ceremony of the Collector Road CN2 from Arterial Road N16 (Yemi Osinbajo Way) in Katampe District, Wike said the project is among several slated for completion in 2026.
Recently, Wike flagged off a 7-kilometre road project linking Bill Clinton Drive at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport to Tunga Madaki community, which is also expected to be commissioned around the same period. Other notable projects include; Airport-Kuje Expressway, an eight-lane dual carriageway being handled by Arab Contractors, and Arterial Road N1, Linking Wuye District.
Wike emphasized that these road projects demonstrate Tinubu’s administration commitment to Abuja residents. Upon completion, the projects are expected to boost infrastructure, enhance security, and stimulate economic activities in the FCT.
“Today, we are also here to flag off another important project that will lead to the opening up of the Gishiri area. Recollect that sometimes in June this year, Mr. President came and commissioned that interchange and the dualization of the road that leads to Gishiri from Maitama.
“So when we came, we found that without this road being linked up, it would not make sense. So, I told the Acting Executive Secretary of FCDA, yes, Mr. President is going to commission that road, but it will be more meaningful if we try to link up this, and I told the company, CGC, that they must do everything possible, even without the award of the contract, to consider it done, that it should be awarded, and they should go ahead.
” I want to commend CGC for having that trust and confidence in the government of Mr. President, knowing fully well that it is for the interest of the people, residents, and for our economic activities to thrive in Abuja.
“You can imagine when this road is completed, and this road is inaugurated in the third year anniversary of Mr. President. Look at the properties here, what will happen,” Wike said.
