Senator Oluremi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Tinubu, will in May commission the remodelled Abuja City Gate as part of activities marking the administration’s third anniversary.

FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, dropped the hint after inspecting ongoing projects across the capital, expressing excitement over the transformation of the iconic structure.

“We are remodelling the City Gate so that it truly reflects Abuja’s identity that once you arrive, you know you are in the city,” Wike said.

He revealed that the new-look City Gate will boast a water fountain representing the 36 states and the FCT, alongside relaxation spots for residents and visitors.

Giving credit where it is due, Wike said the project was inspired by the First Lady.

“This was initiated by the wife of the President. She said we cannot have the entrance of the city like that. We thank her for that vision,” he stated.

Clearly impressed with the pace of work, the minister gave a thumbs up to Julius Berger, noting that the project is on track.

“We are meeting timelines. We are happy with the quality of the job, and the contractors are delivering,” he added.
Wike didn’t stop there as he rolled out updates on other major projects.

He disclosed that the Abuja Division of the Court of Appeal in Daki Biyu is almost ready and will be commissioned in May.

“With the Court of Appeal… it is almost at a final stage and will be handed over by May. We are hoping it will be part of the President’s anniversary,” he said.

At the judges’ quarters, the minister said over 20 duplexes at the FCT High Court, along with magistrates’ quarters, are nearing completion.

He also revealed plans to tighten security in the area by taking over adjoining lands.

“We have to ensure that those living there can be properly identified for security reasons,” he explained.

Wike further announced that houses for top judicial officers including heads of courts will be ready by October.
