THE management of Sodic Parks and Gardens Ltd, a well-known relaxation and leisure centre in Life Camp, Abuja, has appealed to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, to intervene and stop what it described as an unlawful demolition attempt on its property.

In an open letter dated October 13, 2025, the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the park, Mr. Chinedu Ogbonna, alleged that some corrupt individuals within certain government offices were attempting to misuse the Minister’s name and authority to forcibly evict the company from its lawfully allocated site.

Ogbonna clarified that the newly commissioned road project in Life Camp, one of the key projects supervised under Wike’s administration does not affect the park’s premises in any way. He added that this had been verified and confirmed by both Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, the construction company handling the project, and the Engineering Department of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA).

“We wish to state clearly that the newly commissioned road project in Life Camp, under your direction, does not in any way affect our park’s premises or property. This fact has been verified and confirmed by both Julius Berger and the Engineering Department of the FCDA,” Ogbonna said in the letter.

While commending the Minister and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the ongoing infrastructural transformation in the FCT, Ogbonna expressed concern that some individuals were using the guise of development control to target legitimate businesses.

He described such actions as “an abuse of office and a deliberate attempt to undermine the Minister’s reform agenda,” adding that the company had obtained full legal allocation for the land and had been operating in Life Camp since 2011.

According to him, Sodic Parks and Gardens has contributed significantly to environmental enhancement, recreation, and tourism in the area and has always operated within the law.

Ogbonna revealed that the company has already approached the courts for redress, seeking protection of its rights and urging all relevant agencies, especially the Department of Development Control to respect the ongoing judicial process.

He appealed directly to Minister Wike to use his office to ensure fairness and justice in the matter.

“We humbly appeal to you, Honourable Minister, to direct the relevant authorities to act within the ambit of the law and uphold fairness and justice. We remain loyal supporters of your reform initiatives and share your vision for a cleaner, better organized, and investor-friendly Federal Capital Territory,” Ogbonna stated.

He reaffirmed the park’s readiness to continue partnering with the FCT Administration in promoting a greener, more vibrant Abuja that fosters tourism, recreation, and community well-being.
